All published articles in NAVIGATION, Journal of the Institute of Navigation undergo a rigorous peer review process based on:
- Initial editor screening and assignment to an associate editor.
- Review of manuscript by associate editor for appropriateness of scope, content and assignment to independent peer reviewers.
- Each manuscript is reviewed by a minimum of two independent referees. The ultimate purpose of peer review is to assure research quality and originality by ensuring:
- manuscript contains new and significant information to justify publication;
- objectives of the work are clearly and concisely stated;
- if there are experimental and/or theoretical methods they are comprehensively described;
- interetptations and conclusions are justified by the results;
- there are adequate references made to prior work in the field;
- language is acceptable; and
- filtration of poor quality generally.
